Abstract

How dangerous smoking really is? To answer this question one must closely look at cigarette smoking and its harmful effects on one's health and wellbeing. Smoking not only causes detrimental effects on one's health, but also on one's social, professional and financial aspects of life as well. Despite knowing that smoking is dangerous and how it puts one's life at stake, many people ignore the risks and continue to smoke. A cigarette smoke contains more than 5000 chemicals, the main ingredients being tobacco and nicotine. At least 100 of these chemicals are carcinogenic, known to cause
cancers and other illnesses. Quitting cigarettes is not as hard as people think it is. It requires strong will power and motivation to quit smoking. Once a person becomes smoke free, the process of repair is initiated immediately. Within one week the person feels more energetic and healthy. Within
few years the lungs become normal and return to their original state. Fortunately it's never too late to take a leap of faith and quit this bad habit for once and all.
